| <<China Natural Stone Uniform Code>> national standard was approved unanimously on the conference in Quanzhou, Fujian province held by manufacture and coordinate dep. Of China National Building Material Bureau in March, 1998. |
I Principle and requirement of the stone code
i According to GB/T2260-91<<PRC Regionalism Code>> national standard, this uniform code contains four numbers, namely, to change the original three numbers to four ones. For example, Beijing “M101” is changed to “M1101”, Shandong “G386” is changed to “G3786”, and so on.
ii Name of stone in <<China Natural Stone Uniform Code>> national standard do not include the word “China”.
iii The stone can be included should be characterized by good colour, by physical and mechanical function according with technical requirement, and by owning rich resource and annual output over 500M3.
iv To put “M” before marble, such as “M1101”, and to put “G” before granite, such as “G3786”, to put “S” before slate, such as “S1115”.
v Each province, autonomous region and municipality should not add stone from other provinces into its own code.
vi As to stone out of this standard, they should be numbered by local relevant dept. and be added into the standard in time of revision. |
II Naming of stone
i Marble: to name according to 3.3.1 of JC/T202-92 (96)<<Natural Marble Block>>. Namely: block, original place, feature of colour and grain.
ii Granite: to name according to 3.3.1 of JC/T204-92 (96)<<Natural Granite Block>>. Namely: block, original place, feature of colour and grain, quarry code.
iii Slate: to refer to naming way of marble and granite. |
III Classifying and naming

Natural stone uniform code composes of one English letter and four numbers:
First part + Second part
English letter + number/number/ number/number
for instance, “G3786”, “M3711”, “S1115”, and so on.
First part: the English letter is the initial capital letter of granite, marble and slate.
a) Granite------G
b) Marble------M
c) Slate---------S
Second part: four numbers:
a) the first two numbers are code of province, autonomous region and municipality stipulated by GB/T 2260, such as Beijing—11, Shandong—37, Fujian—35.
b) the last two numbers are serial number of stone composed by each province, autonomous region and municipality.
The new standard of (China Natural Stone Data & Gallery) has collected 256 kinds of granite, 75 kinds of marble and 9 kinds of other stone. All of old stone standard code has been adjusted and changed after revision. We have indicated old code and new code in this stone database to convenient for your search and study. |
